WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is a complimentary health therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet, hands and face are connected to different areas of the body. It aims to help your entire body function at its optimal level. A reflexology treatment uses pressure massage on specific areas of the feet or face to stimulate healing in the corresponding organs, glands and structures. The treatment is an ancient healing tradition found in many cultures. Reflexology was introduced to the United States by Dr. William Fitzgerald in 1913. He had studied Native Americans using pressure point therapy to relieve pain. The entire body was mapped into reflexes on the feet, hands and face - hence the name Zone Therapy. Reflexology is very relaxing and provides a way of releasing stress as well as re-balancing energy pathways in the body. During the treatment, the therapist will encounter areas which require more stimulation so extra attention will be applied ensuring the treatment has reached the points requiring healing.
